1st Generation BioSA Electrochemical Reader

BioSA has contributed to the development of electrochemical sensing systems based on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) readout. Initially supported by CIHR through the development of a COVID-19 sensor, this work established a portable sensing platform that has since been extended to additional electrochemical sensing applications. In the first generation, we designed and implemented a discrete potentiostat integrated with a microcontroller-based control and data acquisition board. The accompanying figure presents the portable prototype, the system schematic, a photograph of the fabricated board, and representative COVID-19 sensing results based on measurement of the viral N protein.
